Hapkido Online's Seven Personal Goals: Courtesy, Faith, Trust, Honesty, Humility, Hard Work, and Love.
1. Courtesy
Courtesy: Treat others as you would be treated. Countless human conflict throughout history might have been averted if people, leaders, and nations had observed this simple yet powerful tenet. In movies, Masters are seen having epic battles, in reality they are very polite to one another and are at peace.
"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you..."
Matthew 7:1
“Do not impose on others what you do not wish for yourself.”
Confucius

2. Faith
Faith: Faith is not only believing in God and that his son Jesus died for your sins but believing that they have a plan for your life and that you should follow that divine path. You will find that once you yield to faith that you will also have faith in the outcome of all things, that it all happens for a reason and according to God's plan.
Hapkido Online is a Christian outreach. Master Feathers school, Dunamis Tao, is
a Christian outreach. In fact Instructor Jon Ferguson learned most of his arts in a Church. Of course Christians and non Christians are welcome here but don't be surprised if we share our faith with you.
"For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall
eat, or what you shall drink ; nor for your body, as to what you shall put on.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? " Look at the
birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into
barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not worth much more
than they? " And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his
life span?"
Matthew 11:28-30

3. Trust
Trust: Trust is a choice. We choose to trust others. Even though they might deceive us and cause us harm. Even though they might betray our trust. Our relationships should begin with trust.
At first you should give people the benefit of the doubt. For if we stop trusting in our minds
everybody around might become our enemies. However, if we give trust freely, all around us might become our friends.
Trust requires more courage than mistrust, for in trust we do open ourselves to the possibility of pain but we also open ourselves to the possibility of love in this way. Allow for the fact that even very good people make mistakes. A human mistake is not necessarily cause for mistrust.
If a person does an intentional malevolent act to betray your trust, it is only human to mistrust in this circumstance. However you should give that person a chance to rebuild your trust even if it takes them the remainder of your life.

4. Honesty
Honesty: Honesty is telling the truth to others and to yourself. Few of us can look in the mirror and truly face who we really are, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Honesty is the foundation of honor. If you are honest with others and yourself you will find your own personal honor. The only person who can rob you of your honor is you and no sin is irredeemable.
"Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things."
Hebrews 13:18

Hebrews 13:18
5. Humility
Humility: Humility is realizing that all people are equal. No person on the Earth is better than you and no person is worse. We all live, we all sin, we all make mistakes. Test your humility.
Have you ever looked down upon another because of the way they looked, spoke, or behaved?
Has anybody ever looked down upon you? How many paychecks are you from being homeless, living on the street, and begging for money and food?
It is true that: "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18.
Have you ever looked up to another person? Have you ever seen that person at their absolute worst? Remember even the people we admire (and admiring others is okay) make
mistakes, they have bad days, they say thoughtless things, they hurt others. We all sin, all of us.
Of all the great men the Earth has known only one lived without sin. Only one was absolutely perfect in every conceivable way. The image above shows that even this great man would kneel and wash another mans feet. Not one of us is better than Him.
Do not be boastful and show others compassion for someday they might be called upon to show compassion to you. You can learn something from every person.
The teacher is not better than the student, the student is not worse than the teacher. One is
trying to impart learning and the other is trying to absorb learning. Great teachers treat their students and in fact all people as equals. We show respect to our teachers not because they are better than us but because they are working hard to provide us with learning, we honor their sacrifice and commitment.

6. Hard Work
Hard Work: Shut off your brain and get to work. Trivia question: what is the most important quality a person needs in order to make a black belt in martial arts? Answer: hard work. The student that shows up to practice as often as they can, gives as much as they can, and keeps coming back is the student that excels. Most people that try martial arts do not stay with it long enough to learn anything. They begin to realize early on that learning martial arts is hard work. '
Indeed anything in life that is worthwhile requires hard work.
Our generation feels entitled. We think that everything we desire should simply happen without any effort at all. But martial arts practice shows us the truth. If you want a strong crescent kick, you have to practice and practice and practice. If you want to fend off a flurry of punches and kicks in an effortless manner, you have to practice and practice and practice.
Only those who consistently and constantly apply themselves can learn martial arts. In short this is Hard Work.
Life is much the same as the Dojang. If you want to accomplish anything you must work
hard. Hard work builds strength and character faster than any other pastime.

7. Love
Love: We are taught to maim and kill if need be. We are taught to reduce a human being to a dead slab of meat in seconds. Yet most martial artist are very peaceful people. Most
will not fight unless they have absolutely no other choice. The great among us have love for their fellow man.
You must love others in a selfless way. Give without ever expecting to GET
anything. Love your art, love it so much that you dedicate your life to mastering it and then accept that you may never. Love your art enough to pass it to others with little or no recompense. Very few if any martial arts teachers have made significant wealth teaching martial arts. Most do it because they love it.
Put simply, true love is to put anothers needs above your own. People who serve others and often get nothing for it are people who love.

Success in marriage requires this true and powerful love. Does the husband put his wife's needs before his own? Does she put her husband's needs before her own? If both husband and wife give love to each other and place each other before themselves the marriage will never fail.
All of mankind's best qualities are essentially derived from love.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
