How to Tie Your Belt
Many Hapkido Online Students have pre-existing training in other Martial Arts and already know how to tie a belt. However for those of you with no martial arts training, you may be wondering how to tie your belt. It may sound difficult reading all the steps out but in reality it's quite easy and you'll be tying in no time at all.
Ten Easy Steps:
1. Hold the belt in front of you with one tip of your belt in your right hand. Let the remainder of the Belt hang from your left hand.
2. Press the belt against your waistline. With your left hand pull a length of belt around your waist behind your back. Your right hand stays in the same place.
3. Put the length of belt that is across your back in your right hand with the tip. You now have the tip and
part of the middle in your right hand. The remainder of the Belt is hanging from your right hand.
4. Move your left hand from behind your back to your front and grab the remainder of the belt. Right hand continues to hold tip.
5. Pass the remainder of the belt around your body again just as you did in step 2.
6. Now you have two layers of belt around your waist and you are holding the whole shebang up with your right hand which has not moved.
7. Move your left hand from behind your back to your front and grab the remainder of the belt. Right hand
continues to hold tip.
8. With you left hand take the remainder of the belt around your front and then in place where you desire a knot pass the belt around all layers of belt in front of you.
9. Now you move right and left hands in front of you. One tip of the belt is above the other tip. At this stage you adjust length to make it look more or less even.
10. Now you cross the tips, Top tip moves to your right and bottom tip moves to your left. Right hand tip passes in a loop over left hand and then through the loop to form a simple square knot. If one tip is longer than the other before the knot is tight pull on the shorter one hard.
